REBUILDING BRIDGES
Wyman & Simpson, a Richmond, Maine-based bridge contractor recently completed major work on the historic, 127-year-old brick-and-stone bridge in downtown Rochester, New Hampshire. Buxton Communications worked with Wyman & Simpson, its subcontractors and city officials to keep the public informed throughout the bridge closure and rehabilitation project. ‘ONE HUNDRED AND NINE MILES…’
How do you measure the importance and success of a piece of transportation infrastructure? You show the pivotal role it plays in the region’s economy – and all it takes to maintain it in good working order.
“One hundred and nine miles. One hundred and seventy-six bridges. Nineteen interchanges. Seventy-two million vehicle transactions per year . . . When you look at the sheer numbers involved, maintaining and operating Maine’s most important highway is an enormous responsibility.”
The 2009 Maine Turnpike Authority Annual Report this year looks at the sizable effort required to operate a safe and efficient highway every day.
