KATHRYN BUXTON, CREATIVE DIRECTOR – PROJECT MANAGER
Kathryn Buxton started her career at the Washington Post, then went on to cover the South Florida film industry for the Palm Beach Post and Variety. She founded Buxton Communications in Portland, Maine in 1989 to provide marketing and public relations for a diverse range of clients in the transportation, food, financial and recreation/outdoor industries. Working for transportation clients, including the ZOOM Turnpike  Express, Maine Turnpike, GO Maine and MaineDOT, Kathryn has developed effective, award-winning media campaigns to sell carpools, vanpools and commuter buses; develop bicycle tourism programs; market the state’s scenic byways; launch an electronic toll collection system and many other projects. Kathryn is an avid gardener and reader. She has a degree in English literature from Georgetown University. She swam the Peaks-to-Portland 2.4-mile race two times.

RICK ACKERMANN, ART DIRECTOR – COPY
Rick Ackermann first worked for Town & Country magazine in New York. He is Buxton Communications’ lead copywriter, headline man and web content guru. He has come up dozens of memorable campaign concepts, including the recent “GO MAINE Nation” campaign and Commute Another Way Week campaigns, as well as  L.L. Bean, Neurogen, Thule, Brigham’s Ice Cream, Sugarloaf/USA, Glen Ellen Winery, Maine Turnpike Authority, Peak Performance Multisport, the Maine Marathon and more. Rick has written for Reuters, The Washington Post, Washington Journalism Review, The Columbia Journalism Review, New England Monthly and many other magazines, newspapers and web sites specializing in features, sports and travel. Rick has a degree in journalism from Boston University and is a three-time Ironman finisher.

CHRIS RUSSELL, ART DIRECTOR – GRAPHICS
Chris Russell worked with several Maine advertising firms during the past 15 years, ranging from art direction, design, project management, account management to brand identity development and web site design and development. He has worked for the GO MAINE program, Maine Turnpike Authority, Maine Lobster Council, L.L. Bean, Chilton Furniture, Maine Education Services, Monster.com, H.M. Payson and Ski Maine. Chris has a B.A. in public management and a B.A in journalism/advertising with distinction, both from the University of Maine. His interests include architecture, ice hockey, photography, hiking, fly fishing, music, movies and snowboarding.
